Meet Jake Norton

The Sound Collaborative is pumped to have Jake Norton joining our Board of Directors as Treasurer.

Born in San Diego, Jake moved to Arkansas in elementary school and eventually graduated from the University of Arkansas. Married in 2021, Jake and his wife, Jinny, recently welcomed their first child, Jude, in the fall of 2022.

Jake grew up listening to his dad play guitar, which inspired in him a curiosity and love of music. His knack for picking up instruments started in 4th grade with the trumpet, then guitar, baritone, and tuba—eventually leading him to march tuba in High School and later at the U of A—both marching and playing in the concert bands for 3 years.

He also played guitar and sang in punk rock bands from the age of 15 with bands like Kickstart and Jailbait, Six Hung Sprung, Rip Off and Take Cover (ROTC), and more recently a Green Day and Sublime tribute band.

Jake is excited to bring 18 years of experience in finance and accounting with him to The Sound Collaborative. He’s worked for companies like Cooper Communities, Pace Industries, and BNSF Logistics.

He currently works as a consultant and bookkeeper for a few local companies and teaches personal finance as often as he can. Jake is also a RE/MAX sales agent who loves working on construction and real estate projects.

In his free time, Jake loves endurance racing, ironman, and traveling with his wife—having visited all 50 states in 5 years, the couple is now ticking countries off their bucket list.

About his excitement for The Sound Collaborative, Jake shares, “I think music & fine arts are a very important part of education, how to be in a team setting, and learning more about the abstract parts of life.  It has led me into the best relationships, experiences, and times of my life.

I hate to see and hear how [music] is becoming less important within the schools and even within routine social engagements...[fewer] venues, bands, decline of available funds in schools, less band competitions, etc, over the last 20 years. [The Sound Collaborative] is valuable to me to make it easier for ANYONE to be able to learn, pursue, and join the NWA music community as well as have more resources to expand their talents and relationships.”

The Sound Collaborative received its official 501c3 approval on Christmas Eve!
We will soon begin seeking financial backers and in-kind partnerships.
